Course Description: This beginner’s course provides students with the language learning experiences that will enable them to communicate in Italian. Students begin to communicate with native speakers of Italian and continue to develop and apply their speaking skills in a variety of contexts while exploring a variety of themes such as friends and family, personal talents, physical and psychological well-being, and the community. Using age- and language-appropriate readings, students participate in activities that improve their reading comprehension and writing skills. They also study Italy’s geography and explore various aspects of Italian culture, such as customs and the arts, by participating in community activities involving both print and technological resources.
This course is designed to simultaneously serve all of the learning expectations mandated in the Policy Document for Level 1 and Level 2 studies.
