Grayer leading women’s team

This weekend won’t be just some pop quiz for the fifth-ranked St. Clair Saints women’s basketball team before they break for the Christmas holidays.
With the No.1-ranked Sheridan Bruins and eighth-ranked Humber Hawks visiting, the Saints will get a thorough examination in their final two games until after New Year’s.
The Saints head into Friday’s showdown with the Bruins (6 p.m., at St. Clair) with a 4-1 mark that has them sitting atop the West standings. Saturday, they’ll have to get cranked up again to take on Humber at 6 p.m.
With four of five starters back from last season, along with sensational rookie Jenae Grayer, the Saints are benefiting from continuity and balance.
Rookie impact
Grayer leads the Saints in scoring with 14.4 points per game. She scored 12 points in St. Clair’s 73-66 win against Rochester College Tuesday in Auburn Hills, Mich. She has plenty of offensive support.
