Curriculum Information
Mathematics: Please work with your child to practice addition, subtraction, and skip counting i.e. counting by 2, 5, 10, 20, 25, 50, and 100's. Many students still struggle with recall of simple facts. Regular practice will help to improve these skills. The Grade 2 students are working on numbers to 100 - addition, subtraction, greater than and less than, ten frames, and word problems. The Grade 3 students are working on patterning using rows, columns, diagonals, number lines and the calendar.

Religion: Remember to say your prayers and to follow the Golden Rule. Kindness doesn't cost you anything! The students are learning new prayers and practicing the sign of the cross. The students have created books about themselves that they are sharing with the class. Soon they will begin to learn about the parts of the mass.
Language Arts: Read! Read! Read! Reading - students are encouraged to read anything out loud for 10 minutes every day. Please listen to your child read orally every day. If a story is long, you may wish to break it into smaller parts or you may read alternate pages with your child. In the classroom we are using the guided reading program. These books do not go home. Students will complete comprehension activities about the story they are reading each week. Word study words for the week are located in your child's agenda. A new poem is introduced every week as a shared reading experience.
