Academic Information
*Language Arts:
Please have your child to read aloud every night. Encourage him/her
to use expression and take note of punctuation.
Word Study - Your child will receive a set of new words every Monday.
Please go over the words and practise them every evening. A test will
be given and sent home on Friday for corrections and parent/guardian
signature. Any word that is incorrect will carry over to the following
week.
*Math:
We are currently working on 3D geometry. Please help your child by reviewing
their notes when they are sent home.
*Social Studiescience: We are currently studying different animal groups. Please review the notes in
your child's duotang when it comes home. There will be a test on Tuesday, April 20, 2010.

General Information

*BE a P.A.L. (Protect a Life!) Please keep in mind that we are a PEANUT/NUT AWARE SCHOOL. We
have children in our school with a life threatening peanut/nut allergy. Please check labels found
on your children snacks to ensure that they are peanut/nut free.
* As part of your child's daily homework, he/she is encouraged to read for 10 minutes.
* All homework, as well as any special notes can be found in your child's agenda.
Please check the agenda on a daily basis and initial it each evening. If you have any questions or
concerns, please feel free to address them in the agenda and I will respond to them as soon as
possible.
* As part of the ministry mandate our students are involved in 20 minutes of physical activity per
day. The activities usually take place in the gym, however sometimes we will engage in physical
activities in the classroom. Our schedule gyms days are Tuesdays and Thursdays.
* Our class visits the computer lab and the library every Thursday morning.
Please return your child's library book by Wednesday.
*Please note that our school collects Zehrs' receipts, as well pop tabs and empty
printer cartridges.
Sacramental Information
*Our Grade 2 students will be making their Reconciliation and their First
Holy Communion this year. Classes will be taught at Sacred Heart
Catholic Church. For more information please contact the Church at
